Nicholas Muzyczka

Nicholas Muzyczka, Ph.D., is a professor of Microbiology and the ACS Koger Chair for Cancer Research in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida. He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Johns Hopkins University in 1974. Dr. Muzyczka is the principal investigator on two different program project awards from the National Institutes of Health. His work on the basic biology of adeno-associated virus replication allowed the development of AAV as the leading virus vector for gene therapy applications and he has several patents associated with AAV gene therapy vectors.
