Andrew Rinzler

Andrew Rinzler, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Florida. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut in 1991, specializing in the high pressure luminescence from tunable vibronic laser materials. Dr. Rinzler was a postdoc in the Rick Smalley group at Rice University from 1994-1998. In 1996, Smalley won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. In 1998, Dr. Rinzler began his own group in the UF Department of Physics. He has over 100 peer-reviewed publications and 40 U.S. patents, 11 created at UF. His research focuses on exploiting nanoscale materials for scientific and technological gain, particularly with respect to electronic and optical properties.
