Maria Zajac-Kaye Maria Zajac-Kaye, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Florida. Dr. Zajac-Kaye earned her Ph.D. in the biochemical and biophysical sciences and a master’s degree in organic chemistry from Johns Hopkins University. Her research interests include understanding the mechanisms of oncogenic transformation. Her current work focuses on defining patterns of cooperation between thymidylate synthase and other cancer genes using defined mouse models in an effort to improve the use of the enzyme as a biomarker and therapeutic target.
