Anthony Maurelli

Anthony T. Maurelli, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Environmental and Global Health. He earned his Ph.D. in molecular cell biology from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and earned his bachelor’s degree from Villanova University. Dr. Maurelli received the Henry Wu Award for Excellence in Basic Science Research and was the Elected Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. His research interests include bacterial pathogenesis, bacterial genetics, the evolution/emergence of bacterial pathogens, and public health and infectious disease surveillance in developing countries.
