Carl Crane

Carl D. Crane, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Florida and director of the school’s Center for Intelligent Machines and Robotics. He earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from UF. He also spent five years as an officer in the Army Corps of Engineers. Dr. Crane was leader of UF’s 2004-2005 DARPA Grand Challenge autonomous vehicle development efforts. He has authored a book and more than 40 papers in the areas of spatial geometry and robotics.
