Wolfgang Sigmund

Dr. Wolfgang Sigmund, Ph.D., is a professor in the University of Florida's Materials Science and Engineering Department. Dr. Sigmund earned his Ph.D. from the University of Mainz in conjunction with the Max Planck Institute of Polymer Research in Germany. Dr. Sigmund has more than 200 publications and many patents to his name. Before joining the University of Florida, he was an assistant professor at the Powder Metallurgical Laboratory (PML) at the prestigious Max Planck Institute of Metals Research. His research interests are in semiconductor oxides for energy harvesting and storage, photocatalysis and photolysis, electrodes for secondary barriers, barrier coatings, nanostructures in surface science applications, and biomedical applications of nanoparticles.
