Zhongwu Guo

Zhongwu Guo, Ph.D., is the Scott Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida. He earned his P.D.F. in organic chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the Polish Academy of Sciences, and his M.S. and Pharm.D. in medicinal chemistry and pharmacy from the Second Military Medical University in Shanghai, China. He leads the Guo Research Group, which researches the development of new synthetic methodologies for carbohydrates, glycopeptides and glycolipids, chemical and chemoenzymatic synthesis of natural and unnatural glycans and glycoconjugates, their applications to biology and medicine, investigation of molecules on the cell surface for the discovery of new molecular markers, and development of novel therapeutics for cancer and other diseases.
