Bruce Spiess Bruce Spiess, MD, is a professor of anesthesiology and associate chair for research at the University of Florida College of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology. He received his MD from Rush Medical College in 1980. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic, where he specialized in cardiothoracic anesthesiology and was chief resident. His research is focused on blood, its oxygen-carrying capacity, oxygen therapeutic pharmaceutical development, and more. He received an award from Best Doctors in America from 2002-2019.
