Brent Sumerlin

Brent S. Sumerlin, Ph.D., is the George Bergen Butler Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida. He earned his Ph.D. in polymer science & engineering from University of Southern Mississippi in 2003. His research interests include materials composed of well-defined polymers with selected functionality, composition, and molecular architecture. He is a winner of several awards, including the 2024 Mark Scholar Award, the 2016 Hanwha-Total IUPAC Young Scientist Award, the 2015 American Chemical Society Biomacromolecules/Macromolecules Young Investigator Award, and the 2014 Journal of Polymer Science Innovation Award.
