Astra Dinculescu
Astra Dinculescu, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology Research at the University of Florida. She received her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Florida in 2002, and completed her postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Hauswirth investigating the use of AAVs for retinal gene therapy. Her main research focus is on developing therapeutic approaches for Usher syndrome type III. She also studies the pathological processes affecting the retina and the mechanisms leading to the formation of drusen in age-related macular degeneration.
