Jeffrey Jones

Jeffrey Jones, PhD., is a professor in the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Florida. Dr. Jones received his Ph.D. in plant pathology from Virginia Tech University in 1980. His research focuses on ecology and host-parasite interaction of bacterial plant pathogens. His lab  specializes in bacterial spot disease of tomato and pepper caused by four species of Xanthomonas, as well as citrus canker disease. The Jones lab analyzes bacterial strains collected worldwide to understand population dynamics and evolution of bacteria, bacterial effector profile and their role in pathogenicity, host-range and host-pathogen interaction.
