Ronald Davis

Ronald Davis, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation and Technology. He earned his Ph.D. in genetics at the University of California, Davis, and completed his postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology. He is one of the nation’s leading experts on the molecular and cellular biology of learning, memory and forgetting as well as the disorders disrupting these processes, such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Davis was recruited to Scripps Florida in 2009 as the founding chairman of the Department of Neuroscience and built the department from scratch.  His research program focuses on the development of mitochondrial therapeutics to offset the profound mitochondrial dysfunction occurring in neurodegenerative diseases and uncovering the brain mechanisms that lead to forgetting.
