Subhashinie Kariyawasam, BVSC, PhD, DACVM, DACPV, DACVPM, DABMM, is a professor and chair of the Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She earned her veterinary degree from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and Ph.D. from the University of Guelph, Canada. Her current work focuses on One Health, with emphasis on foodborne and other zoonotic pathogens and antimicrobial resistance. She is especially interested in developing preharvest interventions and vaccines that enhance food safety and reduce infectious diseases in food-producing animals.
