Sergio Duarte
Sergio Duarte, Ph.D., is a research assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Porto, Portugal. Dr. Duarte completed his postdoctoral training at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he focused on liver transplantation and hepatic fibrosis. His research interests include organ preservation, liver transplantation, and the molecular mechanisms underlying hepatic fibrosis. Dr. Duarte has published extensively on topics related to liver disease and transplantation, contributing significantly to the field with his work on cell-free DNA as a biomarker for organ quality.
