Steven Sargent, Ph.D., is a professor and associate chair in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at the University of Florida. He received his Ph.D. in agricultural engineering from Michigan State University in 1984 and was named Researcher of the Year by the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association in 2010. His research spans mechanical harvesting, cooling systems, controlled and modified atmospheres, ethylene management, and evaluating how emerging technologies influence the quality of fresh fruits and vegetables from harvest through storage.
