Bala Rathinasabapathi, Ph.D., is a professor and associate chair in the Horticultural Sciences Department at the University of Florida. He earned his Ph.D. in 1990 in biology from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, and did post-doctoral research at Michigan State University, East Lansing, and the University of Montreal, Canada. His areas of research include metabolic engineering for stress tolerance and nutritional enhancement of vegetables, vegetable crop breeding and genetics, and arsenic accumulation in plants. He is a member of the UF Plant Breeders Working Group, genetics graduate program, and plant molecular and cellular biology graduate program.
